Conceived and moderated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, The Athens Dialogues is an evening of interviews, conversations, performances and screenings exploring the critical and creative connections between antiquity and contemporary art. The event will bring together a diverse group of practitioners, who reflect on how they use antiquity as a toolbox in their research and artistic practice. The Athens Dialogues presents conversations between Hans Ulrich Obrist and Danai Anesiadou, James Bridle, Liz Diller, Apostolos Georgiou, Raqs Media Collective, Adrián Villar Rojas, Christina Soulou and Hito Steyerl. In addition to these discussions, The Athens Dialogues will feature a scenography by Ranjana Leyendecker, as well as a video by Charles Ray, in which the artist addresses the role of antiquity in his work. Ari Marcopoulos has created the visual narrative that will migrate to a book to be published after the event.
The event will take place at the Benaki Museum, Main Building on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at 19:30.
