P+P=D: NEW ART FROM THE ’70s & ’80s

P+P=D: New Art From the ‘70s & ‘80s examines the artistic practices of Greek avant-garde in the ‘70s and ‘80s as manifested in the activities of Desmos, one of the first alternative art spaces in Athens, Greece. Desmos encouraged a way of perceiving contemporary art that always reflected life itself and served as a meeting place for an informed public during the early ‘70s. Through its activities, an audience gained in creative experiences while certain artists received their artistic baptism. More importantly, Desmos rekindled the notion of an artistic avant-garde in Greece; it renewed the instruments of artistic expression in (body art, performance) and introduced the idea of interdisciplinary collaboration.
