KINDERAMA 3D: Selections from the Dakis Joannou Collection

KINDERAMA is a new commission by the DESTE Foundation, published on the occasion of the presentation of the Dakis Joannou Collection at the New Museum in New York. For KINDERAMA, Italian artist Roberto Cuoghi has stormed Dakis Joannou’s collection with a pack of children and has photographed them with a 3-D camera as they pose with some of the most iconic works in the recent history of art. Simultaneously irreverent and affectionate, KINDERAMA is a surreal catalogue and a unique artist’s book of 51 stunning images. Children stand in adoration of a Jeff Koons, play with a Maurizio Cattelan, or stare in puzzlement at a Robert Gober. Photographed in 3-D, the artworks turn into mutant versions of themselves. With joyful exuberance, KINDERAMA seems to suggest that this thing we call art might simply be a children’s game.
