“Apollo Wind Spinner” — Handover Ceremony
We are pleased to announce that Jeff Koons’ Apollo Wind Spinner (2020-22) has been presented to the island of Hydra by Dakis & Lietta Joannou. Apollo Wind Spinner, which was first installed at the Slaughterhouse in 2022 for the exhibition Apollo, will remain permanently installed on Hydra, finding its home on the island and becoming one of its new landmarks.
The official handover ceremony to the Municipality of Hydra took place on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at the DESTE Foundation Project Space in the presence of Dakis & Lietta Joannou, Jeff Koons, the Mayor of Hydra, George Koukoudakis, and Nicholas Yatromanolakis, former Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of Greece.
