7 GREEK ARTISTS: A NEW JOURNEY

Organized by the DESTE Foundation in collaboration with the Nicosia Municipality and the Pierides Collection, the show 7 Greek Artists: A New Journey invites visitors to embark on a new journey on the politically- charged island of Cyprus. Set in the sixteenth century Famagusta Gate which is located in Nicosia only three hundred meters from the Turkish outposts, 7 Greek Artists: A New Journey is proof that art knows no borders. Each of the seven artists in the show has created site-specific environmental and large-scale installations which overtly reflect the sociopolitical climate of the island. The works in show dominate the three long galleries of the Gate which, since 1981, has become the new cultural center of the Municipality of Nicosia.

Artists included: Dimitri Alithinos, Costas Varotsos, Diohandi, Bia Davou, Leda Papaconstantinou, Rena Papaspyrou, Totsikas.
