Liquid Antiquity

The DESTE Foundation is happy to announce the upcoming project entitled Liquid Antiquity.

Conceived by Brooke Holmes, Robert F. Goheen Professor in the Humanities and Professor of Classics at Princeton University, this project is a critical reflection on the fluid and open-ended relationship between antique and contemporary art.

Liquid Antiquity includes a book, co-edited by Holmes and Karen Marta, which consists of critical contributions by renowned critics and scholars, as well as 10 conversations with prominent artists and a site-specific video installation designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The video installation places six of the interviews with the artists who contributed to the publication in dialogue with the Benaki Museum’s permanent collection.

The book launch and opening of the video installation will take place at the Benaki Museum, Main Building on April 3, 2017. The video installation will be on view through September 17, 2017.
